The Hawaiian legend of Pele and Poliʻahu is a story of fire and ice, where the two goddesses collide. The University of San Francisco’s Hui o Hawaiʻi chose this theme for their 44th annual luaʻu. In the final design, Poliʻahu — the goddess of Mauna Kea and snow — is depicted in the foreground on her way to Kilauea, home of Pele.
